When you’re mulching your grass, you’re not picking up the weed seeds like you did with a bagging mower. So it’s a good idea to really buff up on your pre-emergent weed control and get those weed seeds taken care of early in the season so that you won’t have a bunch of crazy weeds going on throughout the rest.

And in the same vein, if you’re a commercial cutter and you’re mowing someone’s lawn and he’s got weed seeds in it. You’re also collecting a lot more weed seeds inside your mower and going from job to job with those weed seeds. It’s really a good practice to use a pre-emergent at the beginning of the year and try to kill off those weed seeds the best you can. So that you’re not having weeds in the lawn that you’re cutting and also not spreading weed seeds around.
