Certified Irrigation Installer Starting August 6th at Horizon Orange

Nothing beats hands-on training! So Horizon has partnered with Irrigator Tech, a leading provider of irrigation, landscape and maintenance trainings, to help you and your crew develop the skills needed to grow your business.

Irrigator Tech offers certification in a number of subjects including Irrigation Repair, Irrigation Auditor and Smart Water. A new series of courses for Certified Irrigation Installer starts next week!

Name of the Course: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)

Certificate Earned: Certified Irrigation Installer

Location: Horizon – Orange

Dates: August 6th – September 3rd

Anyone is eligible to register, but Irrigator Tech recommends that you have 2-5 years field experience. The course consists of 10 classes and a test. If your schedule doesn’t allow you to take all of the courses, you can sign up individually for individual days. Every class is offered with Spanish translation!

The 10 Classes within the Certified Irrigation Installer course:

  1. Class #1001: Wiring & Electrical Installation – Tuesday, August 6th from 8am-12pm. This class teaches students the skills of properly grounding controllers, installing and wiring circuit breakers, and installing conduits. It includes installation of 110 Volt and 24 Volt assemblies.

  2. Class #1002: Controller Installation and Programming - Tuesday, August 6th from 12:30pm-4:30pm. This class focuses on the installation of controllers, programming, and scheduling for commercial use. It highlights installation of wall mount and pedestal mount controllers.

  3. Class #1003: Valve Installation - Tuesday, August 13th from 8am-12pm. Learn how to properly install different valves, valve boxes, general valve functions and features.

  4. Class #1004: Sprinkler Heads and Drip Irrigation Install - Tuesday, August 13th from 12:30pm-4:30pm. Learn to install various heads, and drip for efficient water management. Hands-on includes: geared rotor, pop-up spray head, and drip install.

  5. Class #1005: Pipe Fitting & Installation - Tuesday, August 20th from 8am-12pm. Learn how to use and install all flanges, mechanical joints, PVC fittings, and PVC pipe.

  6. Class #1006: Irrigation Field Hydraulics - Tuesday, August 20th from 12:30pm-4:30pm. Covers basic hydraulic principles, friction loss, pressure loss due to elevation, dynamic and static pressure.

  7. Class #1007: Master Valve Installation - Tuesday, August 27th from 8am-12pm. Covers functions of a master valve, and normally open/normally closed. Hands-on includes: master valve and flow sensor install.

  8. Class #1008: Understanding Blueprints and Landscape Design - Tuesday, August 27th from 12:30pm-4:30pm. Review irrigation blueprints and how to apply measurements to a job. Learn to understand legends, specifications, and “as-builts.”

  9. Class #1009: Installation of Pumps and Pump Systems - Tuesday, September 3rd from 8am-12pm. Covers proper installation and operation of prefabricated water pumping systems. Features: pump suction, discharge connections, pump foundation, pump protection, filtration, and net positive suction head.

  10. Class #1010: Backflow Installation - Tuesday, September 3rd from 12:30pm-4:30pm. Covers types of backflows, functions, and installation guidelines.
